Kate is an experienced advocate with a practice across civil, criminal and public law.
Kate began her career at Meredith Connell, where she prosecuted numerous judge-alone and jury trials. She also conducted regulatory prosecutions for a range of agencies, including the Commerce Commission. She is comfortable dealing with factually complex matters and with leading and cross-examining witnesses.
Since becoming a barrister in 2021, Kate has built a broad practice across the fields of civil, criminal and public litigation, appearing in the courts at all levels. She has been instructed as Counsel Assisting the Coroner in several inquests and has acted for the Crown in the Waitangi Tribunal. Kate has appeared in appeals and judicial reviews in the senior courts, acted as sole counsel in the High Court, and most recently appeared as junior counsel in the Supreme Court in a dispute over Māori post-governance settlement entities.
